JCC and Trey have both battled injuries the last several years. Shai is coming off a knee surgery. Travon is an unknown in game situations. I don't think 4 is too many running backs.
I think we see JCC / Sam Rogers operate as the 3rd WR quite a bit.
Jim Harbaugh is an asshole. He showed up Bud Foster in that Orange Bowl on a play where the offense shifted like 3 times. I'll never forget it.

Marshall against Pitt last year too. I think the first time we saw that was against FSU in 2012. Penn State successfully did something similar against OSU last year, although I believe it was a DE.

I believe he was the #1 before he was hurt, I could see him being at least co #1 depending on how well he and Trey have recovered from their injuries .. I definitely think if both are 100% they both beat out JCC
With as hyped up as this year has been there are no losses I won't be upset with. Based on the defensive talent and the talent around Brewer there isn't a reason in our schedule to falter.
There is some legitimacy to all the calls about VT being a dark horse
OSU - 4 Top impact players missing with a good defense to offense matchup

ECU - Lost Players from all positions on offense, rebuilding year
Purdue - Rebuilding Years
Pitt - BRAND NEW HEAD COACH
NC State - Atlantic teams are weakz, also rebuilding years
Miami - The U is not back, memories from last year. more seriously a loss won't hurt as much due to the caliber of the QB leading the team
Duke - Rebuilding Year for offense
BC - Bottom of ACC team, seriously we can beat them

I've got my Hype train ticket bought and my pitchfork out of the closet and cleaned off. Miami and GT are bad losses due to the Coastal division and previous losses but not pitchfork worthy induhvidually. But other losses or combined losses and the pitchfork is ready to come out
The only team preseason ranked by Saragin as better than us is OSU and GT, with miami on our tails. Any other losses are upset losses

"Shai, we might want to redshirt you. Plenty of backs, 2 ACL surgeries."
"If you redshirt me, I transfer. I'll be sitting a year out anyway, may as well do it at another school."
"Oh, okay. You can play then."
i think this goes on a lot more than people realize.
I agree with you guys about it not making sense, but that's the rumor out there. Kids don't make logical decisions when they have their feelings hurt...

I feel like an 11W apologist over here but if you actually read through most posts (I've only done it on a few threads but it's been consistent) there's maybe 10-15% of that. The vast majority are pretty reasonable and do show quite a bit of respect for us (even when the 10-15% mock them for said respect). It's an Ohio State football fansite, there will be homers, just have to ignore and move on.

The running game was really poor last year, an area for improvement on Monday. I doubt we will be as good on 3rd downs again, but we can stop running into the backs of our OLineman on every carry.
Yup. I'll give the offense credit in the first half for playing great on 3rd downs, but we played awful on most 1st and 2nd downs which put us in long 3rd downs to start off with. We played awful offensively in the 2nd half until OSU tied the game and then finally put together another drive. The running game was never a bright spot in that game outside of one sam rogers run.

Well, that doesn't make sense. Either he would lateral transfer and lose a year of eligibility, or he would drop down to a lower level, and probably want to transfer back upwards later. Either way, he'd be losing out on this season, and possibly next season depending on the timing.
Well, I don't see how that would help him. He would have to sit out a year anyway, unless he went the JUCO/FCS route for a year. But still, I would very much understand him being upset by a redshirt decision. There is no justification for a redshirt if he is 100% healthy other than to just narrow down the carries at the position. If the ACL is fully healthy now, a redshirt is not going to somehow make it better, and the coaches would just be using the injury as an excuse to add some separation between the RBs. I definitely think Shai is our best all-around back currently, and if the production from JC and/or Trey isn't there, we're going to need him.
in the Orange Bowl, Stanford was running right through our defense. Jim Harbaugh started to rub it in. very unsportsmanlike. I thought bud foster might run across the field and tackle him. Even Jon Gruden thought it was a classless move.
