Thanks for the effort, but this is really nothing but a smattering of amateur opinions among a sea of widely varying amateur opinions -- few of which have anything to say other than spewing conventional wisdom and fantasy league quality observations. The real pros aren't going to share their opinion -- or if they do, it's likely superficial at best or misinformation, at worst.

The thing that amuses me about these guys is that they not only pontificate about who will be picked when before the draft, but then have the balls to evaluate the real pros after the draft by grading them on how they picked in comparison to how the amateurs thought they should have picked.

Like a few years ago when Mel Kiper insisted that Jimmy Clausen was a top 5 pick (which he clearly wasn't) and then when he slipped to mid-2nd round (which means that only 1 team had him that high), he praised the Panthers because they got a 1st round talent in the 2nd round (when, in retrospect, he was more like a 6th round talent picked in the 2nd round). He did the same thing that year with Terrance Cody and Sergio Kindle too (who have both dramatically underachieved as 2nd round picks, let alone 1st round picks). Dreadfully wrong on all three.

We can only hope that Kiper lives up to his promise to retire if Clausen doesn't become a successful NFL QB. But unfortunately like all of these reporters posing as professional talent analysts, they'll just keep on projecting and analyzing because fans and their sportswriter brethren (who go so far as quoting each other's opinions as though they are reporting facts) still give them credence and never do any retrospective look at how poorly these guys project player prospects.

The most valuable piece of info in the summary is that the real pros -- the ones with their livings depending upon making more good draft picks than the other guys -- didn't even bother to stay for the game.

I get the point, but I don't want more staff just to have more warm bodies.

That being said, I wouldn't be opposed to us moving our contract to UA. They do some interesting and creative things.

I would. Personally I prefer UA, but when it comes to recruiting, Nike carries much more weight. I recall reading Malcom Delany say he refused to even consider non-Nike schools when being recruited.

Here is a good breakdown of where our deal stood competitively when it was signed in 2006. we have to be careful comparing our 2006 contract to deals signed in 2010 and beyond. ND just signed their UA deal in 2014. we'll get our new deal in July 2015, which won't be ND money (nor should it be), but it will likely be on par with anyone we consider a (brand) peer.

I don't think anyone wants us depending on professional athletes for funds, but like any wealthy, well known Alumni, they should definitely be targeted.
