I thought he was going to break that last tackle there for a second. That play made me fist pump in my office cubicle.

I honestly don't think were gonna waste a yr at the qb position on Leal when hes gonna be learning just like the new qbs. Might as well go with the younger guys and get them developed instead of wasting a yr

The toughness of our players? There's only so much you can do to tough out a broken leg or a shoulder that requires surgery or a core muscle you just had surgically repaired.

Funny Hokieknightfx2, you're telling everyone to calm down and stop hating on Leal/each other. But your comments were the most negative/hating/vulgar of anyone. Don't like calling a fellow Hokie out, but dang!

I like the positive vibes man.

Didn't think Leal played awful. He was put in a tough spot.

Don't necessarily think next seasons record will be better with a freshman QB or Leal & RB uncertainty.

Time to drink some beers for all the seniors.

If I were the defender I would want to put any hit or wear on the opposing QB when I had the opportunity but even if Logan still had the ball in his hand, that was a dirty hit. He went high and led with the helmet. It even seemed like he launched himself IMO. I'd say Zumwalt would have lost at least few bucks playing that carelessly on the NFL level if he were to ever make it.

To be fair, I wasn't exactly impressed by Leal. Here's to seeing a good QB competition in the spring.

There will be a good QB competition this spring, and possibly even fall. That will only help the team. No guarantees who will start, but Leal certainly has the advantage of experience going into 2014.

I agree! That kid showed stones out there today and hustled even with the game out of reach.

As mentioned previously, LT played with a ton of heart and is a great representative of VT. For that I will always think positively of Logan and his couple years with us.

Can't wait to see what he does on the next level!

Continuing on the Mangus theme. He is a much better returner than Knowles. Hopefully we start using him next year as our primary returner unless someone else becomes noticeably better. He ran with purpose and refused to go down. It was nice to see on an otherwise boring offense.

B Dubs seem to bring more Hokies, but there were plenty of seats at Champps

And I proudly don the t-shirt that I opened up on Christmas morn right this very moment.

I do think the defense got out played. Out couched? I don't think so. When the players made the plays, the offense moved the ball, and the defense got stops. They just didn't make plays.

As far as my "excuses," I believe that being less talented and experienced than the guys across the ball from you makes it hard to win games.

And furthermore, I point out to you all that, regardless of the shitacular performance put on by our team and coaching staff today...regardless of the score...absolutely NOTHING and NO ONE will ever take away a Decade of Dominance from us. Ever.

Exactly right. He put the crown of his helmet right in LT's chin, and that's text book targeting. Here's the rule copy/pasted:

RULES

Targeting and Initiating Contact With the Crown of the Helmet (Rule 9-1-3)

No player shall target and initiate contact against an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. When in question, it is a foul.

Targeting and Initiating Contact to Head or Neck Area of a Defenseless Player (Rule 9-1-4)

No player shall target and initiate contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, fist, elbow or shoulder. When in question, it is a foul. (Rule 2-27-14)

Note: Beginning in 2013, ejection from the game is a part of the penalty for violation of both Rule 9-1-3 and Rule 9-1-4.

Here is the rest of the targeting rule as it's written: http://www.afca.com/article/article.php?id=2342

I guess I would rather see you say we got out played, and out coached, not make excuse after excuse for why we couldn't maybe compete

Here's to QB/TE/beast Logan Thomas making an NFL team very happy in the later rounds and making a lot of $$$$ one day. Cheers.

Kyle is a corner, just a very good one with tackling ability and the experience to be able to read and diagnose plays.

Fuller and Fayscon may very well be better than Exum, but at the start of the year (and I believe for most of the year, for example when Exum came back), Exum was starting over Fayscon.

Well, you confused me about Logan because you said "the 1st string QB from next year", I was assuming you meant what you said, which would have been Mark Leal. And if you were talking about Logan, than you're right. It was within 20 when he was in the game, which unfortunately was less than half the game.

As far as Kline coming back in, anyone could see he was still hurt and not effective at all. At which point he left the game again shortly thereafter.

Again, if you can find me a team that played with those circumstances, I will tell you if they lost by 30 in their bowl game.

to add to your point, he clearly made contact head first, before the shoulder

see, im not all bad

One of my favorite Hokies of all-time.

For all the s#it he got - he helped us way more times than he hurt us. The last two years he was our best skill player on the field.

Everything he can bring to the table will be missed next year.

Let's not forget Motley.

Edit: Messed up which QB I was thinking of.

It's up to the powers that be to fix the shit with this team and program. Hopefully this recent recruiting class will be a start.
