Boom.
I'd say it'll be an older guy. And if Mack Brown doesn't make it out of this season then him. And there is 0% chance that Gruden's name isn't mentioned at some point.
Not that surprising.
He got fired on the plane ride back too.
Absolutely remember that. I was at a hockey game but found a TV to watch that game instead, haha.
Will be interesting to see who they go after.
Ah! Remember when?

I've been there before and completely agree with this. I had some friends at UNC try to show me their glory but it was nothing compared to Tech. I have family ties to UNC so I root for them when they are playing pretty much anyone but Tech, but I am happy I made the choice to go to tech. That being said I have one question:
Did they trim the bushes that run behind the benches? last time I was there I sat row 5 and had to watch the game from the video board because their hedges were literally 7 ft tall, and being so close, that restricted my view of the game.
I think Bud will want revenge for last year too.
So I was actually at this game yesterday and I made a few observations:
1. The UNC fans I witnessed were terrible. No where close to filling their stadium, very fair weather in nature, and pretty much quiet and seated the entire game.
2. The tailgate scene in chapel hill is a joke. Blacksburg is better in every way.
3. The UNC D was terrible. Their secondary was soft and their front 4 got zero push. ECU moved the ball at will with no interference from them.
5. I do like the changes they made to their stadium. The video boards (albeit both way smaller than ours) in each end zone are nice. I also like the club level boxes above both end zones and the enclosed nature of it all. If we followed that model at lane I am confident it would be amazing.
That's all for now.
Yes, they did.
Couldn't believe my eyes.
Then I realized what I really was watching, in a holistic manner, and began to believe my eyes again.
hahahahahaha. im laughing too hard at 5am, enjoy the legs!

thanks man. No worries though. Hopefully more people get to see it and enjoy it as well, but I just put this stuff up for shits and giggles. Turkey legs are always just a welcome bonus! mmmmm.... turkey legs....
Open Letter to Mama Giraffe.
Dear Mama Giraffe,
I will keep this short. I respect that you are a woman in a man's world. I respect that you are doing something that even a decade ago wouldn't have been possible to do. However, please learn more about football. At the very least you should have someone you know who understands football review EVERYTHING you say before you say it.
Let me use an example that epitomizes everything that is wrong with your "reporting":
A few things here.
1) You are in Doucheville. Never go. They don't even have a real football team, and the 3 fans that go to football games are as uninformed as you.
2) You see you standing there with that microphone? This is ALL WRONG. The biggest problem is you are interviewing Mike "Crybaby" London. Please refer to point one regarding LOLUVA fans. No one cares what he has to say. The second problem is that even if you were to interview Crybaby London you have the microphone in completely the wrong position. Everyone knows he talks out of his ass.
3) If you want to be taken seriously then you need to ask the hard questions, not just link to Andy Bitter's articles who is doing the job for you.
Please take these things into consideration as I honestly believe if you follow them it will help you in your career. I want to respect your work but until you learn basic, elementary reporting rules such as above it will never happen.
In summary:
1) LOLUVA does not require reporting because no one cares.
2) Miami is not "back" every year. You have been wrong too many times. It's better to stop saying it.
3) Your love affair with Clemson and Paul Johnson are too obvious. Try to be impartial and report things that matter.
4) Stop sucking.
Sincerely,
Anyone Who Has Ever Read Your Work
In case anyone is wondering why he's such a late bloomer, he just started playing this year and has only played 4 varsity football games in his life. Similar to Kalvine Cline, just decided to try it out his senior year I guess.
That's what I meant, the year when he was a true freshman taking his redshirt year.
What a great find. Free shipping is always nice.
DE Seth Dooley is 6'5", 245 - taking the redshirt this year. He's looking VERY good from all reports.
DE Vinny Mihota, Class of 2014, is 6'4", 240
Side note - Hall of Fame OLB Ted "The Mad Stork" Hendricks, who played for the Baltimore Colts, the Green Bay Packers and the Oakland and Los Angeles Raiders was 6'7", 220. That guy was amazing! Couldn't run around him and couldn't pass over him.
I just lol'd myself
Thanks, French - I look forward to reading your write-ups every week!
Quick question - is JC still recovering from his injury? Is he being pushed back into service too quickly?
Can't believe we have so many true freshmen in starting positions, and they're all doing well as far as I can tell.
I think he just called that wildcat fake end-around pass for USCw that was intercepted by ASU.
GT will beat the candycanes next week, I strongly suspect. If GT loses, they will be out of the Coastal race, and PJ's seat will start to warm up. They will come back highly motivated after the VT loss, and Miami's defense is not VT's. Though I would not mind PJ getting canned and the ACC getting rid of the Chop Block Chumps.
Hook up the laptop and stream a game from VTPhreak's channel; Viola, every day is gameday!

Great stories here, but am I really this old?
My story is both similar and different from many here, but mostly it is one of a highly imperfect kid who became a Tech student, then a man, and still has great love for the Hokies, Virginia Tech, and the whole community, local and far, who supports the teams and school.
As a kid I was pretty much left to my own devices to roam around town and do what I wanted. The only grounding I had was sports, especially football. My first Hokie game live or otherwise was a barn-burning 3-0 victory over Villanova as my little league team traveled the thirty or forty minutes it took then to traverse the mountain to see Jerry Claiborne's three yards and a cloud of dust offense. I can't really recall, but I think I missed Tech's only score, but it was enough and the Gobblers got the win. Entering the gate at Lane Stadium that day though was like passing through the Looking Glass into a magical kingdom for this ten-year old. Concrete pillars pushed a cascaded stadium underside high into the sky. I never had imagined that a structure could hold so much open space. Large, orange and maroon streamers and flags were carried aloft horizontally by the mid-Autumn Blacksburg winds. And strange baritone/bass sounds emanated from outside the concourse in the direction of the field. I learned shortly that they came from those long plastic horns that concessionaires sold. Even the bathrooms held more urinals than could possibly be needed. I did not know which one to choose. It was wonderful as we kids headed off to explore it all amidst and against the human throng buying souvenirs and food and pouring itself into and around the stadium.
Where did I sit? A vague memory tells me my group had bleacher seats which we never used as we found ourselves in that northwest corner of the stadium no one ever seemed to use. Out on the field that day were two players, one named Loria and the other Beamer. One became an All-American while the other became a coach. As for me, I left that day with a Virginia Tech banner and the first of many exciting Lane Stadium days, a small few down on the field but most in that northwest corner or the student section on the East side. Call us the Gobblers, Hokies, Hoakies (yes, I was there then too), VPI, Tech, or something else, I don't care. We are Virginia Tech.
