I saw your post. I, too, do not like crimson.
Money talks. Jim Weaver listens. ESPN pays us for game broadcasts. We take the timeslots they give us.
Weaver has nothing to do with the TV times - completely out of his hands.
I would add D) blame mistakes by Logan on everyone but Logan. The people blamed for the mistakes includes but is not limited to the receivers, the line, the backs, coaches no longer employed by the team, Obama, the Tea Party, the Illuminati, the KGB, rap music and Cersei Lannister.
Yeah and he would only have 2 years of eligibility left. It seems like a long shot though.
I don't think they are that bad, forgot to mention they had a few starters that got injured on Saturday that might not play on Thursday. And I think Marshall statistically has a top 10 defense in the country.
Given Knowles' speed, I could see him being used effectively on jet-sweep plays.
conventional wisdom says Harris will never enroll at VT, but I saw a post on TSL that indicated that a coach told a large audience only a couple weeks ago that Harris would be enrolling fall 2014.
I'd say odds are UNC is 3:30 and Pitt is probably another nooner. If UNC had beaten GT (oh well), and if we beat GT, then the UNC game almost certainly goes to primetime because it would be a matchup of the top two teams in the division. If we beat GT, then hopefully that will get us off of the noon timeframe since it's still a matchup of contenders.
Also, am I crazy to think that Knowles may have some success in a different role with some screens and reverses?
Between him and LT, the long passes ain't working.
But with his speed, if he can get the ball closer to the LOS he maybe able to make some YACs, ala Sammy Watkins.
It seems that Stanford could be used to stretch the defense as he seems more reliable reeling in the long passes.
Why do you think GTs defense is bad? Held Duke down, who just scored 55. Held UNC to 20.
these should be at least 3:30 games but you never know with weaver, the acc and espn.
Well, I learned something tonight. Thanks.
Hapless means unlucky, most people misuse it when they mean hopeless (true of VT vs Bama) and or helpless (a more apt description of VT-Bama)
I really hope the offense plays better on Thursday. I think Marshall has a better defense then GT so they should.
Off topic here but speaking of high school players, this has nothing to do with Tech but one of Da'shawn Hand's teammates died a few days ago and he just tweeted that his aunt has died too. Talk about rough. I wish nothing but the best for him and his family (And to Woodbridge high school.)
1/3 of every class attrites. 1/3 become everyday payers and 1/3 hang around the program but never become 1st stringers. We should have lost 7, we've lost 10 but one was Michael Cole.
Ha ha.
My 14 yo old son said 'Dad, those uniforms are BEAST!' (As he sat wearing his calf-high black socks with shorts.)
And me, standing there shaking my head thinking 'I officially don't get it.'
something else to consider....when you look at some of the teams that have been rebuilt with new staffs (lets look at FSU and Clemson since they're both in the ACC) you'll notice that the programs were recruiting well even before the new coaches took over. Even though that was the case, it still took a couple of years before they got really good results. VT has never really recruited on quite the same level as FSU or Clemson....
So with TE's all over the field on offense we can't really expect Loeffler and Co. to come in and fix things immediately. I'm encouraged (for the most part) by what I see. The play calling, preparation, attitude, and adjustments seem to all be greatly improved. Now, if we can just recruit the talent we need we should be able to eventually field a competitive offense. Let's hope that Bud is still around by then.
It's downright foolish to think that Loeffler was going to come in and turn our offense into a scoring machine in 1 season. These types of changes take a couple of years. I fully expect our offense to be competitive by 2016. As long as Bud is still here by then I have faith that he will continue to reload on that side of the ball and we should be putting a pretty darn good team on the field that year.
But for now, we're going to have growing pains, and they'll last all year. We're fortunate to be in the weaker Coastal division. With a little luck and a lot of fight from our players we could potentially end up in Charlotte by December...but I wouldn't count on it. Don't let yourselves get disappointed by this season (because I suspect it will be a long and somewhat tumultuous one) and give Loeffler some time.
Go Hokies!
I still blame Weaver
Personally I would never doubt LT3's will to win or those intagibles that our coaching staff sees. But from my perspective does Logan have the tools to be an NFL qb.? Absolutely. Will he be an NFL qb? No. Plain and simple. If our season plays out to where we don't compete for the conference championship, do we help Logan like Michigan did for Denard Robinson and convert him to a TE/WR to help his draft stock wit the league.
True.
That game was one for the ages.
Seriously. We lost to Bama, but it was far from "hapless."
Yep honestly in my opinion it doesnt matter what we wear. If the recruits like it I'm good. We could wear pink and purple polka dots but if the recruits liked it then what ever. Alums may not love Oregon's unis but guess who does 17-18 yr old high schoolers love then

Throwing out stats is an easy thing to do. I'll throw one out. Johnny Unitas had a career percentage average of something just over 54%. What does that prove? He should have been benched? I can't say, but in at least three of his years, he threw more interceptions than TD's. He should have been benched definitely, right? I wasn't the coach so personally can't say, but in fact, he was, for one year as the team went to Super Bowl III where he came off the bench and led the Colts to their only TD that day. The next year he was back on the field throwing for another 54%. And here's a description of Super Bowl V from superpages dot com: The game was comical with errors. Late in the first half, Earl Morrall relieved the injured Johnny Unitas, who threw the Colts' only touchdown pass. It bounced off the fingertips of Colts receiver Eddie Hinton, off Cowboys defensive back Mel Renfro, and settled into the grip of Colts tight end John Mackey, who ran 45 yards to score on a 75-yard play. Dallas stumbled to a 13-6 halftime lead. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?
Thomas is our guy and this team is his. We win with him, or not. Without him, I don't think we do. I've seen Leal in a scrimmage against the second team. Though he might start the season, he won't finish the season in 2014 as the starter.
