I'm a little disappointed there was no gif here. You could have at least posted double pass dance.

But really though, if candidates are being interviewed and such, why are we keeping everything a secret? I'm so confused.

I just watched Jeffery fist pump for 20 minutes, thinking about how Susan asked me who Kirby Smart was this morning. #AMMO

Where do you find those glorious gifs??

The biggest factor in the decline of Beamerball is that Beamer no longer uses his truly elite players on special teams. Back in the Beamerball glory days he used to put the most talented players on special teams whether they were 1st team starters or not. I love that mentality but you can see both sides of it in terms of injuries.

The most important thing is that Luck was point into a system that he could succeed in. Though he was more of a traditional Pro QB, Luck still had some impressive wheels (4.67s 40). QB-runs are always exciting to watch, but do it enough and the risks of injury only increase. Every time LT3 had to tuck and run I held my breath. I still am amazed at what he was able to accomplish this season, with what little he had to work with.

What needs to happen before anything else in the offensive overhaul, is to make a solid line to protect the backs. Then, work on the play-makers. Mechanics and tendency can all be corrected with good coaching. But if the line can't block, then the plays are already broken down.

Under Hamilton, Luck still ran for almost 1000 yards over his three year career at Stanford with a 5.9 ypc average. It's not quite what VT QBs are used to, but obviously rushing wasnt Luck's strongest suit. I think that if a guy like Hamilton ended up with a "prototypical VT QB" you'd see more designed runs than what Stanford did with Luck, but the focus would shift back to roll outs off the play action, similarly to what Bustle did with Vick.

I hear David Wang is great at Call of Duty.

....we have like 10 guys. Find five that can play. I think we have 10 guys who are pretty good, too.

Needless to say, nobody has said these two words yet: David Wang.

all those troubled rich kids are paying for all the football players.

Kevin Macadam was a JUCO as well, but I think he was also a HS qualifier.

Ricky Hall may have been JUCO, too. Just depends on a need, mutual interest, and a right fit.

And to clarify a little more on prep vs. JUCO.........you don't lose eligibility at prep schools like at JUCO. Prep is like an extra year of HS.......that costs a lot of money. JUCO is cheap. I could be wrong, but I think the price to take classes at a junior college is just a little bit more than community college.

I would love to know (or maybe I don't) how some kids afford prep schools, and why some kids have a huge change of heart after they go to prep school, qualify for the school they are prepping for, and then sign with.......I dunno.......a UNC or Klempson........pretty sure there are some examples of that......

It could mean that Mike Sanford Jr feels like he has a chance of moving up or it could just mean he doesn't want to go to Arkansas State.

Mike Sanford Jr was a player at Boise State when Arkansas State's HC was a coach at Boise seems like they would have a connection.

i think that not taking JUCO kids is more of a philosophy, not a rule. If it were a rule, VT/ACC would have a policy for ALL sports, not just football.

But I have gleaned two things over the years of following recruiting:

1. Because we are a "technical" school, we have an extra math requirement than most colleges. I think kids need to have passed Algebra to get in. This cost us Knowshon Moreno, who was ready to commit to us until Kevin Rogers informed him of this the night before his decision.

2. We have a standard that says if you can't get in out of HS (or prep school), you can't get in. I'm not sure how rare that is, maybe it's ACC wide. You don't see many JUCO's in ACC, and you can be a JUCO who could have got in with HS scores, maybe you went JUCO because you didn't have the recruiting interest you wanted. UNC, for instance, had Sylvester Williams as their big DT this year who was a JUCO kid, but only played one year of HS ball. He may have had the grades to get in, but nobody recruited him so he went JUCO. So maybe the JUCO rule is ACC wide...

I'm not saying it's a good idea, I just think we should be prepared that Beamer will over-value experience.

And, like Stiney, I think Bollman would be a reasonable choice at OL coach. OC, not so much.

He would know what works against him.

It seems like every time we are in a situation where we need a punt block and we send the house, we get a running into the kicker penalty.

And the fact that I never really assume we will go after a kick, I mean I hope we do, I scream at the special teams to go after it, but I just expect us not to.

It's sad really. And it really just shows where this program has gone in the past few years. We have left the days of playing gritty, hard, physical, in your face football, and have turned into a team that tries to be to cute and fancy.

Going back to what I first said about running into the kicker; that just shows that the discipline and coaching of the special teams is gone. I'm not gonna say that Beamer can't coach anymore so don't think I'm implying that, I just think we've gone away from a special teams focus and don't practice it as much as we should, or as we have in the past.

As much as I would love to see changes on the offensive side of the ball, I would also love to see the refocus on special teams. Getting back to the Beamer Ball mentality would be so awesome! It was one of my favorite things about this program, but for now, Beamer Ball seems dead.

on his "Smart" phone.

Or he is playing angry bids.
