I also really really like the idea of Exum and Cole at safety with Jarret and Kyle at corner.

"It is amazing how close they are from actually being effective on offense"

I feel like this sums up a Brian Stinespring offense, not just this game. When (hopefully in the near future) he needs a new job he should have to place this as a disclaimer at the bottom of his resume.

I'm starting to think that we need to make a statement and bench Marcus Davis. The loafing is nothing new and, while it will make the team worse in the short run, I'm guessing that (long term) it's better for the program to make a statement that slacking off on the field won't be tolerated.

I work in Cassell and had a friend that worked for the ticket office. Whenever they have a break they look on facebook and other sites for people doing this, but overall the university needs a better system.

I second that. He's not a bad coach at all, got fired after winning 9 games. I'd love to have the fat guy in the booth or on the sideline

However, this is the change that would have the most shock value. They will never hire someone outside the box, and odds are won't make a change at all.

I know you said you don't want anyone with ties to Beamer, but Friedgen is one hell of an OC. I would love to see him calling the plays next year.

There's always Bud. He's frustrated and is feeling the heat by everyone. However, I think what most fans should take away from this is, "look, we had to revamp the entire secondary and were hopefull we'd have a shot at a GOOD defense. These guys are out there giving it what they have and if that's not good enough, well, here's a warm glass of go f yourself. Thanks"

That Bud can keep building on that relationship. Too much talent in the state over the next 2 years to let it slip on a down year that this appears to be headed towards. The season isn't over, but they can't let recruits like Holland Fisher wander if they want to get back to where we were and then beyond.

Whatever the coaches are doing, it's not getting these guys ready to play on game day. The play calling has been fine, it's the execution and focus and aggressiveness of the players that has been lacking.

Whether it's the OL maintaining a double team until he RB is getting tackled next to them by an unblocked LB, or WR's who dodge incoming defenders instead of blocking them, our team just doesn't seem to be prepared to execute consistently in the running game. Then mix in a QB who is having accuracy problems, and top it all off with a few receivers & TE's that drop plenty of easy catches when the ball happens to be on on target... that all adds up to an inconsistent offense that's going to struggle no matter what the play call is.

and they are a lot smaller and less developed than MD7 and DR11, although if they don't aggressively seek contact on running plays, does it really matter how big & strong they are?

Got this from Oregon's website, they were in danger of their home sellout streak breaking at 82:

The sellout streak trails only Nebraska (318), Notre Dame (225) and Virginia Tech's (87) as the nation's longest.

Got this from hokiesports.com:

A large part of that impressive record is the home-field environment created by the fans as Lane Stadium has been sold out for 87 consecutive games entering the 2011 season, starting with the final home game of the 1998 season against Virginia.

My take: VT being 3rd is very impressive, I think it is good to have high standards for Hokie fans, but we need to know how good we have it compared to other programs. Yes sometimes people show up late and leave early, for good and bad reasons. Some people do get way to drunk just about everywhere. It could be alot worse though folks.

Take Tyler out, put BT51 at Mike and play RVD at Backer. Might be too early for him to shift roles like that this year, but oh I yearn for having basically a dime package to play against some of these spread teams by subbing out one LB.

Also, in that fourth video, I'm not so sure he takes a bad angle in his pursuit off the play-action. The QB was kind of lingering behind the LOS, looking downfield with the ball in a throwing position. By charging directly at him, RVD forced the QB to run for yardage instead of getting a pass off. On 3rd and long he would've gotten a sack or forced a bad throw, and that kind of pressure is what our defense is all about.

Personally, I'd rather play for a perennial winner. I cannot stand losing, at anything. I stopped playing recreation league bocce, the one all about drinking and relaxing, because my team prioritized having a good time over winning. I'd feel as/more satisfied building on a tradition, as I would reviving or starting up a program.

For recruits, I think it's personal preference and specific to each player and their goals. Some kids prefer to redshirt, others want to play right away. Some want to do three years as quickly as possible and shoot for the NFL, others want the complete college experience and a degree. How a player relates to a coach is a huge factor. Bud Foster might intimidate a lot of kids, but Da'Shawn Hand has a great relationship with him.

Still has more people in it than the entrances to the Austin Peay or Bowling Green game. And at least those fans stayed most of the game.

Inbreeding is reserved for our friends in West Virginia so please out of house. But let's be honest...I'd be surprised if Stinespring were to be fired.

I'm a fan of any switch, we need creativity and a more modern offensive strategy

right down the toilet this season....inexplicably and eerily similar to the Hokies. Perhaps we can turn this around yet.

I was shown a photo today of what Lane Stadium looked like during Enter Sandman during the Marshall game in 2005. And guess what, the North End Zone was HALF EMPTY. It's posted under the comments for this letter on The Key Play's Facebook page. This letter acts like everyone was always excited for mediocore games until this year. Well guess what, that's not true. It sounds like someone has the attitude that everything in the past was so much better than things are now. People have always left bush league games early, especially when it's raining, like it was during the Austin-Peay game. And no matter what college game you go to you are going to have drunk people. It's always been like that, and always will be like that. So don't act like everything that you have witnessed this year is new, because it's not.
