Banks, 45, just completed his third season at Alabama coaching tight ends and special teams. He is considered one of the best special teams coaches in the country. He has signed a three-year, $3.15 million deal with Texas with an opening salary of $1 million in 2021. Banks was paid $750,000 annually at Alabama
The top of the mountain is just getting higher and higher.

I'll be honest - i barely watched the game last night. I tuned in for the start and the game was competitive for the first quarter+, but it got out of hand in a hurry and Ohio St. had little chance of making this close unless Alabama played sloppy and instead the played a pretty crisp game. More than anything I was just bored with the whole playoff this year... same teams... similar result. I'm of the mind now that unless something is done to open the playoffs and expand the field, we're going to see the same participants over and over again and its going to be detrimental to all of FBS with the exception of the 3-5 premier teams.

I haven't seen a formulaic/quantifiable approach to ranking programs, so I thought this was pretty cool and worth sharing here, especially since there's been a lot of debate over where VT sits in the college football pecking order. By this ranking method, VT sits as the 32nd best program in college football.
There's definitely some flaws with his methodology, but I think the thought process is good. Here's the original post. Here's u/SlamDunkley's methodology:

Shane Beamer rounds out defensive staff with former Florida assistant, reports say
Shane Beamer is in the final stages of assembling his staff for South Carolina football β and the latest assistant coach to reportedly join the fold is someone with whom he shares a long history.
Torrian Gray will join the Gamecocks as the defensive backs coach, ESPN, The Athletic and AL.com reported Monday evening. Gray last worked at Florida, where he held the same title, but his ties to Beamer date back more than two decades.

It's a poultry battle all around in Atlanta.

OUTLAND TROPHY: CHRISTIAN DARRISAW, VIRGINIA TECH
Darrisaw didn't quite break Penei Sewell's record for the highest single-season PFF grade by a Power 5 tackle (95.8), but he certainly challenged it, and he did so despite going against far stiffer competition. Darrisaw led all Power 5 tackles in both pass- and run-blocking grade this year, culminating in a 95.6 PFF overall grade for the season.

Love to see Hokies see success in the NFL. Joey definitely deserves this.

Just as the title says. 247 put out their True-Freshman All-American team yesterday and listed Strong as one of the CB's, saying that he graded as VT's best corner over the course of the year, and was the 5th best qualifying freshman.
The Hokies' defensive back depth seemed to take hit after hit this season, but Strong was a bright spot all year. The former three-star recruit ended the year with 22 tackles, an interception and five passes defended, grading out as Virginia Tech's top overall cornerback and the fifth-best qualifying freshman DB, per PFF College
