VT vs. FSU Advanced Box Score
What's up nerds, I have another advanced box score to share:

Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.
What's up nerds, I have another advanced box score to share:
Glossary:
1) FSU played a ton of deep shell coverage, daring the Hokies to try to stretch the field. The offensive line couldn't handle the edge speed rush of the Seminoles, and in the rare instance that Drones did get a shot off, he didn't give his big receivers balls that they could make a play on. Granted, they weren't getting open.
2) Most of the passing game success was in the flat. Kudos to Lane, Thomas, and Tuten for running hard to make some tough first downs on those flat passes and extend drives. But, ultimately you can't consistently win games with 15 play drives, especially when the offensive line breaks down.

Took awhile but I kinda figured he'd end up as an analyst before making any other head coaching stops. Comes a week after they fired their OC so in theory could position himself well in that regard but tbh I don't know anything about the landscape of Indiana football.
Well, for some reason I have some mixed feelings about this game even though we knew we would get blown out.
On one hand, we competed really well in spots with a top 5 team. We went toe to toe with a very talented FSU squad for about a quarter and a half. Bowen made some adjustments in-game and allowed the offense to show some productivity.
On the other hand the same old things continue to plague this team/program. We can talk about talent and losing culture all we want, but at some point players and coaches have to be held accountable for simple things:
My FSU friend sent me this pod. It's a really good listen:
Bud's analysis on VT is pretty spot on IMO - it's really impressive how well informed he is about every team. If you have time before the game, definitely recommend giving it a listen.
On the VT Offense vs FSU defense:
We already missed 2 games this week, with our our former (briefly) Hokie, Coach Kill, taking the dub.
Thursday's games included 2 C-USA matchups:
Thursday bonus: 6 Hokies in the Bears v Commanders game
Friday night lights:
Other notable games this weekend:
And many more

Thank goodness for the diligent officials at the NCAA. Whatever would we do without their watchful eye?
According to an article on ESPN Philippines (I guess this is a real site?), the 25-player class limit for college football will be getting permanently eliminated. Moving forward, only the total scholarship limit of 85 will be counted. It will be interesting to see how this all plays out for both good and bad.

Definitions, Callouts, etc:
QUARTERBACK – Kyron Drones, Virginia Tech, QB, Pearland, Texas
Drones completed 12-of-19 pass attempts for 228 yards and three touchdowns in the win over Pittsburgh. He also rushed for 41 yards and two touchdowns, accounting for five touchdowns on the night. Drones is the first Virginia Tech player to account for five touchdowns in a game since Josh Jackson did it in 2017 against East Carolina. He is just the sixth Virginia Tech player to accomplish the feat of accounting for at least five touchdowns in a game.
Help me out and drop some Pitt GIFTORY requests. Please give a quarter and approximate clock time. The play-by-play section in the box score and extended highlights might be helpful.
The film review is going to be fun this week, and I think in part that is because Coach Pry finally sent a message about accountability. I will share an example. Harrison St. Germain got a lot... a lot of playing time in spots where Dae'quan Wright played last week. Germain and Gosnell both struggled (luckily Tuten showed the world why he is such a good talent with some really sharp cuts and effort), but Wright, when he got reps, blocked his ass off. I have already seen two really good effort plays from him blocking and I am just getting into the second quarter. Other guys who I have been suspicious of their effort (Kendricks, Pollard) played well.
FAMMMMMMM
Watching nc state and Louisville and didn't see this thread started yet so here it is. Have at it, folks!
"White out I guess" Lol. Mostly talks about Pitt but does talk some about VT offense and special teams. Gives a Frank Beamer shout out.

But Clemson fans likely won't have to wait that long to soothe the sting of a relatively disappointing season with big-picture perspective.
School administrators indicate an announcement about a Clemson bolt from its growing financial disadvantage in the ACC relative to SEC and Big Ten schools is coming soon, probably along with Florida State and North Carolina and perhaps another ACC school or more — even as University of South Carolina officials try to block Clemson from the SEC.
