Teel -- "Loeffler needs more time to cure Virginia Tech offense's ills"

Interesting read from David Teel.

I've written about a couple of ideas Teel touched on, like Tech not luring a top-flight offensive coordinator with Beamer nearing retirement and positional coaches / staff slots a potential barrier.

However he dropped this.

But given the promise this group has flashed and the rash of injuries, I believe head coach Frank Beamer will, and should, retain Loeffler

"Chad Kelly arrested after scuffle with police"

http://mobile.buffalonews.com/?articleRedirect=1

Kelly, 20, of Niagara Falls, refused to leave Encore at 492 Pearl St. about 3:15 a.m. and punched a bouncer in the face, Buffalo police said. Kelly's companion, Brandon Hickey, 21, of Clarence, had been thrown out of the bar earlier and tried to re-enter, police said.

Kelly continued to fight with two bouncers and stated "I'm going to go to my car and get my AK-47 and spray this place," according to a report.

Thankfully he's Ole Miss' problem.

Bo Pelini Burns it Down "Bo Pelini insults A.D. Shawn Eichorst in expletive-filled talk during final meeting with players"

"I didn't really have any relationship with the A.D.," Pelini said. "The guy, you guys saw him (Sunday), the guy is a total p----. I mean, he is, and he's a total c---."

Bucky Hodges Named USA Today Freshman All-American

Today, in "news we all knew should happen," our 17-foot-tall superhuman tight end received a well-deserved honor:

Congratulations to Bucky on his achievement! I have no doubt that he will be an All-American in years to come if he continues his hard work.

Thoughts on the rest of the team, anyone?

Question for French - Shotgun vs Spread

I've come across several people recently who believe that, since we line up in the shotgun so much, we are running a spread offense.

This is nonsensical to me, but I have a hard time explaining the difference between an offense that runs zone blocking plays and an offense committed to the spread like Oregon. Can you elaborate?
