Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.

So now that the playoffs are over... was it worth it?

I know a lot of people prefer (preferred?) the old bowl system with no playoff. Now that the season is over, has the playoff changed your opinion? Or if you wanted the playoffs, do you want to go back to the old system?

Should it be expanded to 8 teams? Or should other tweaks be made?

Personally, I loved pretty much every minute, but I think it should be expanded to 8 teams. Just not sure about the effects of the extra game on the athletes. But I would have loved to have seen TCU and Baylor get their shots.

High and Low Points During Beamer Era

There's been a ton of banter back-and-forth on "why Beamer should stay" and/or "why he needs to hang it up" (and quite a number of threads). This is NOT that kind of thread. Let me repeat: this is NOT that thread. I want to know what the community feels were/are the top 5 (or whatever) high points in the program's history and the top 5 (or whatever) low points during Beamer's history. This is not supposed to be a thread on why Beamer should hang it up or why Beamer is equal to or greater than the sum of Tech football (I cannot overemphasize that enough). So please keep it civil and state your points for both categories. Here's mine:
Top 5 Highs
1. Obvious '99 season
2. '95 season with W over Texas in Sugar Bowl

Kam is an absolute Beast

Anyone else watch him dominate Carolina last night? He OWNED that game. The play he made jumping over the line TWICE to almost block the field goal, the 90+ yard pick 6, the massive hits. Wow.

Shane Beamer candidate for Texas opening

From Horns 247

Horns247 has been told that Texas head coach Charlie Strong has interest in Shane Beamer for the Longhorns special teams/tight ends assistant job. Beamer is currently the running backs/assistant head coach for his father Frank Beamer at Virginia Tech.

Beamer joins former Houston head coach Tony Levine and former USC special teams coach John Baxter as the leading candidates for Texas' opening.

Realistic Expectations

What should our Realistic expectations be? Should we truly believe VT can win a national title?

Seems hard to believe a school wedged in between the blue ridge mountains in southwest va can contend with schools on south beach and LA. Should we simply be happy with 7-6 records mixed in with a few ACC titles? some say yes, I say no. Are we going to recruit like Alabama and FSU absolutely not. But last time I looked our recruiting class is ahead of Oregon who is playing Monday night for the title.

Devil's Advocate: Michael Brewer Edition

Seems like one of the biggest topics of discussion in this early offseason has been about Michael Brewer. I've not got any hard data to back this up, but it seems like TKP members (at least the active commenters) are split close to right down the middle on Brewdog.

Hypothetical VT Quarterback Discussion

Throughout the football season we experienced the joy of unexpected victory(OSU), which led to inflated expectations, and the lowest of lows the WF debacle (ok not the lowest of lows losing to lolUVA would have been worse). This team had injuries left and right, inconsistent o-line play, and the always tough but not always reliable Michael Brewer. Many people, myself included, talk about the quarterback being the most important player on the football field. The Brewer vs. Motley vs. Leal argument has been brought up and discussed enough for a lifetime, but now that it is the offseason I figured it's as good a time as any to pose a question I've been thinking about since at least the beginning of November.

Still hating on Scot Loeffler and/or Beamer?

In my opinion, the recruiting in the last two years is proof-positive that these guys are making a difference. I felt that way since the day we overhauled our offensive staff but I am curious if any of the folks that harbored negative feelings about one or both of these men still feel that the program cannot be turned around or that either one of them should be shown the door.
