Agreed. Not every 5* ends up being the tits. Bama gets 5& 4 in large amounts, however a lot of them don't work out.

Manziel was like a 3 if I recall. Some kids peak and are great in HS because they are the biggest kid, or best athlete. However when they move down the funnel into college, they run into kids who were the top at their HS cool. Whoops, I can't bull rush this line anymore, cause they are bigger.

Anyway, if you want more top rated players, you have to win. Bama hardly has to recruit. Oh we play for national championships here, done deal. Even cj reavis said he would consider Bama if they had sniffed in his direction harder.

UVA picked up a couple of 5s by luck, but their overall class sucks.

Right now, not sure if it's our new guys, but 2014 and 2015 are looking nice in the recruiting realm.

Part II of my encounters and conversations at the Ladies Football Clinic, June 2013.

The agenda for the day was talks and presentations by Bud Foster, Scot Loeffler, Mike Gentry, Lester Karlin and Mike Goforth in Cassell Coliseum in the morning. This was followed by lunch and remarks and introductions by Frank Beamer. We then broke up into small groups for a tour of the facilities. The last spot on the tour was Lane. We got to enter through the football players entrance. The players and coaches were standing around near the entrance in casual groups. The players were mostly together in the same area. I said to them that the coaches were having a hard day trying to wrangle all the women and get them to go where they want and when they want. I think they would prefer conducting a practice with the players where they had something to hold over the players head and had the authority over them. They really laughed and agreed that, that was probably true.

I had noticed in the morning that Logan was not there. I was told Logan was coming in at 12:30. I thought that meant that he would be staying and be on the field at 3:00. He did show up and was part of a presentation in the early afternoon, but he was not on the field.

When I was leaving the field, I was confused about how to get back to the starting point. I saw someone walking around and asked him for directions. It turned out to be Scot Loeffler. He was so nice and gracious. He said that he had to go back too and that he would escort me. I asked him why Logan was being a slacker and did not come in until 12:30. I also added that I was disappointed that Logan was not on the field and available for autographs. He said that Logan was not being a slacker and that he had been very busy. He had given Logan things he had to do earlier in the morning and then he had to leave to do more things in the afternoon. We talked about recruiting and a few other things. I remember thinking what a quality person he was and that if he were half the coach as he was a person, that he would be a great coach. Both he and Bud had their faces in their phone much of the day, as the next day was a big day with recruits coming in.

Also for consideration, if Andrew Ford does win the starting job, the right tackle position becomes the blindside pass protection position. McLaughlin will start, but, does he get moved to right tackle? Note, Gibson started last spring at left tackle, and left tackle is where Teller was getting reps in fall camp. And, Gibson's job is much more insecure than McLaughlin.

The seniors could see some attrition. I expect Wang back, but he does have an injury history and I believe he already has his degree (if not he likely will graduate this spring.) I believe Benedict is in the same scenario, and he is another guy who would likely content for a starting spot but is dealing with a chronic injury issue. Mark Shuman was dinged up at the beginning of the season, and when he got healthy he was given once chance to play, didn't play well, and never got another sniff. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the three, if not two of the three don't come back. No inside information, but football is so physically demanding that if you don't have a future and you may not be starting, I can understand walking away to focus on finishing school.

How I became a Hokie? I was conceived on campus that's how. My parents made damn sure of it.

I'm with you on Teller. I read on another site that he's breaking OL weight-lifting records - if he comes in at 295-300 this Spring, he will be in beast-mode, to say the least.
