I think Chris Peterson would make a great coach here. Seems to like the small town atmosphere and he has a proven record making the most of what he gets. Whether that continues now that he is coaching in a tougher conference remains to be seen. But I also think that Bud Foster deserves a chance if he wants the job. He has given his all for this program.
I was under the impression that the 6'8" report was a mis-print by Beamerball back in July. I'm checking with my buddy at Hokiesports to confirm, but their numbers (6'6" 235) should've been taken from their weigh-ins when the players reported in August, ie more recently and more accurate.
As far as moving to TE, that could happen, but I haven't seen or heard anything official. We all know he was asked to play some TE for the scout team in order to mirror opposing teams' very tall, athletic TE's like UNC's Eric Ebron, but it would extremely odd to me that he wouldn't even be given a shot to compete at Quarterback in the Spring.

TEs and QBs are essentially the same.....not sure what the big deal is.

Gee, thanks, Jeremy - nobody here could have figured that one out.
You guys have the inside / better information, but I'm surprised. I realize the old regime probably left these seniors a little under coached, under motivated, but I'm surprised more of these kids don't view the new coaches as giving them a shot at the next level. If you're close to 300lbs and have been lifting for 3-4 years in college, 6-8 months of dedication can really change your body.
Getting beaten out by these young guys? On the OL? WTF? This senior class had some talent. I will be shocked to see it play out the way you guys think it will. I don't expect these guys will go down like that. Some injuries can recover in a 2 year ish timeframe, so I get the injury thing, but you never know unless you try. I expect at least two of these guys to move mountains. Eddie Jarrel like.

And he should know that Beamer is trying to address the basic issue of down recruiting on offense and has commitments from a decently regarded groups of out-of-state players.
I don't know how rare a "fab five" o-line is but it's going to be cool to see five guys from the same class possibly playing together at the same:
Taylor-Mitchell-Gallo-Pettit-Smith...maybe call them "The Motherfuckin' GPS" for all of the holes that they're going to direct their running backs to find?
This list includes guys that were recruited as QBs and/or played QB at some point in their careers at Tech

I'm going to get emotional here.
I grew up a Tech fan. Neither of my parents went to a 4-year university, my dad has an Engineering Associates from CVCC and has worked his ass off to get to where he is, and I'm very proud of that. My Mom does pretty good with only her diploma and I'm proud of her too. The point is, neither of my parents went to VT for schooling. My Dad grew up on the farm and became involved in FFA in high school, and being the agricultural school VT is, he went many times for State Convention. That's where he fell in love. He has been a Hokie ever since he visited in the early 80's. The old logo sticker is still on his old bedroom window in my Grandmother's house.
Fast forward to when this little stud was born in 1992 (I haven't lived in a time where VT didn't make a bowl). I was born, bred, raised, molded to love VT, and hate UVA. I dreaded going to school on December 1st, 2003 because I knew what would come of it. I was in 6th grade. Hated the UVA kids. I cried the night Matt Ryan, well you know. I hung up on my girlfriend at the end of the 2009 UNC game. I looked up at the TV in the Sugar Bowl and saw Danny Coale's face and cried because I knew he caught that football. All this in middle school, high school, and eventually community college to attempt to get those grades needed to get into Virginia Tech's School of Engineering.
Eventually, I didn't get those grades. I cried that night too, I'm not ashamed. It's all I ever wanted, and as happy as I was for my study buddies in Community College, I hated that they got in and didn't know anything about the school nor care as much for it as I did. I hate myself for not getting in because I never feel like I real Hokie.
I'm currently taking video streaming classes through ODU's Teletechnet Program. It's cool, I guess. I hate not being able to talk to my professor face to face. It's not all bad though. I applied to an internship at VDOT and I'm pretty sure if I hadn't stayed local I wouldn't have gotten the job. I make more than double minimum wage, have a chill boss and awesome coworkers, and am getting experience in an engineering field. It worked out, but I still regret not working harder in life to be a real Hokie.
Last I checked tOSU doesn't have a Fab Five.
Fab Fives are reserved for Michigan and VT only.
As you can see from the list below, Ike Whitaker was the only 4-5 star to not start - the other non-starter QBs were 2-3 stars.
Yeah, but I only listed players that were listed as QBs on Rivals and/or played QB at Tech. I'm sure many of our recruits over the years played QB in high school (i.e. Sam Rogers); but as far as I know, Morgan, Caleb and Exum were never in the QB rotation at Tech.
Yep, the comments essentially mean nothing....in fact, it has often resulted in the opposite being true. I will be shocked if he plays.
Antone Exum was a high school QB as well. According to 247 he was rated as a 3-star safety.
Not to be Negative Nancy, but Antone thought he would definitely play against UVA too. Not a given until kickoff.
Does VT have anything to challenge the UCLA D? Will it all come down to lucky breaks (turnovers and short field) or missed defensive assignments? Will the D or special teams need to score to stay in the game?
What should we look for during the game to get a feel for the outcome? Pass protection?
