Obsession? I view it more as giving it the proper credit as being the greatest multi-purpose food/smellular product out there. I would take bacon body wash to keep my nostrils going allll dayyyy looooong.

Much like the female's fascination with all things pumpkin between September and November, men love bacon because no matter what you do with it, it's delicious. Candy it with some brown sugar, put it in cupcakes or on doughnuts, put it on top of burgers or pizza. It can be used for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert. In fact, I'm currently using a bacon bandaid to cover my scars from my appendectomy last week, a gag gift put to good use. Don't knock the bacon!
All I could find at the moment is his Hudl page with some highlights.
All things wonderful....
bacon

Thanks for the heads up. I will send an email to him today.
Do we have a highlight tape of him or anything?
AWESOME! Turkey Leg for you sir!!!
Send an email to John Ballein about him (jballein@vt.edu)
That's what I did regarding Sam Rogers last year, and he actually responded by saying thanks for the heads up.
I don't understand men's obsession with bacon. I've seen bacon scented candles, dental floss...
I just don't get it. Not that I don't like bacon. However, I don't like the smell of it cooking.
We dropped right out of that thun-thun-thun. I like the new role. Beating Miami, and into the ACCCG would mean that VT has the chance to spoil 2 Florida schools on their "title runs". Note I said chance because FSU looks really good. But wouldn't it be awesome to feel the hate of VT going to the Orange Bowl, and Florida State looking for an at large?
Here's to believing, and my own Journey moment
He was in on a goaline play on Saturday lining up as fullback. I think it was the play before the DJ Coles penalty. I was cheering so hard for a fat man touchdown, but he never got the ball.
If some of our games were 5 quarters long this year they may have very well ended up being losses. I see this as a rebuilding year and I think next year will be too. I never expected us to be 6-1 before the year started (I also never thought we would lose to Duke). I think 2015 we may finally see measurable progress on the offense. We just have to remain level headed and open minded until then. Losing to Duke stinks but it's not the Duke of the past. It's a David Cutcliffe coached team wearing Duke uniforms.
We be aight, ya'll.
I have faith. Just not in this particular manner
I want to know when they will commit to never playing at FedEx Field again?
A couple things. First, Ford is better at throwing a football from point A to point B. The ball just looks better coming out of his hand and he's very accurate. Hodges, on the other hand, has some mechanical issues that were fully on display during the fall. Not saying Bucky doesn't have potential, but Ford is a more polished passer right now.
Birthday cake is cake, so therefore bacon.
Bacon > pie > lots of other things > cake
I guess I might if that was our only color, like a Tenn, or Texas, or Syr.
BUT.....we have two colors, and IMHO, it is hard to beat the strength and awe that is projected in maroon based uniforms.
Maroon>>>>>Orange. Honestly, 98% Maroon with orange piping is just too strong to ignore.
When I wear maroon, I want to lift weights, dig trenches, shout at the moon, jump on a tidal wave and punch rocky outcroppings.
When I wear orange......well, I don't wear orange.
As an Auburn fan and graduate I feel I have to weigh in here...
The obvious problems last year and the year before were Gene Chizik. Despite the National Championship in 2010, most Auburn fans are content to wipe Chizik's name from the history of the program (and subsequently bequeath that NC to Gus Malzhan...). Chizik got extremely meddlesome with regards to his coordinators the last two years, and it showed. Auburn had Tre Mason last year, and he was the absolute only reason to watch and Auburn game last year (he's a fun RB to watch), but now he's complimented by a speedster (Corey Grant) and a big bruiser (Cameron Artis-Payne), as well as a JUCO transfer at QB and the backup QB being a freshman. If you think LT3 has been bad the last two years, I invite you to put up with Khiel Frazier and Jonathan Wallace for a year. VT doesn't have a RB as good as Tre Mason (and I say that with the confidence of watching every game for both teams last year), much less 3 RB's that could play meaningful snaps at almost any school (which I believe Mason, CAP, and Grant could do). Nick Marshall is also a much different running QB than LT3 and runs the read option significantly better.
So pick your favorite reason out of those, but I feel it's unfair to compare Malzhan's first year in Auburn to Loeffler's first year in Auburn or at VT. Malzhan is established as a fantastic OC. Loeffler had never been the OC at a D-1 school before last year. Give him some time before throwing him under the bus.
Well look at you go, Negative Nancy.
They've shown flashes all year and for the most part are having a pretty solid season. Have some faith they'll get things turned around a bit against BC.
I'm purely going off the idea that Loeffler didn't recruit Hodges (that's my belief anyway...that could be wrong and I'll welcome anybody to correct me here)
If I'm right and Ford truly is SL's first recruit I think that gives him an edge just because he's the type of QB Loeffler wants in his system. If Hodges wins the job outright, more power to him. I'm trusting the coaches to put the best option out on the field because they all know way more about football than I'll ever know
Well, with Auburn it was a whole combination of things. For starters, Chizik is a horrible head coach, as evidenced by the fact that he is currently, to the best of my knowledge, unemployed. Next, let's look at the talent he had. He had good running backs and a decent (from a run-blocking perspective) offensive line. Those running backs all averaged 5-6+ yards per carry, which is pretty darn good. The big problem was his quarterback/passing game. Please note his quarterback is now a safety. When you can't convert 3rd downs, protect the QB or hit big plays through the air and then your defense can't get a stop, you fall behind very quickly. Then, you're forced to go to the air more, and the cycle continues. Loeffler was not put in a position to succeed at Auburn, plain and simple. He didn't have a good HC, a good QB, or, for the most part, the talent needed to execute his scheme (pro-style multiple as opposed to the spread). He was at Auburn for one year, which was a complete dumpster fire from every perspective, and I really wish people would stop holding that against him.
Let me start by saying...French, your stuff is excellent...anyone can write a game recap but I love the insight and breakdowns you bring to the table.
A few questions mainly around offense/SL...
1 - Is this offense less talented than 2012? I want to believe in SL, but given what everyone's pointed out about AU's success this year without him and the obvious offensive struggles we have, it's tough. Last year we def lacked talent compared to 2011 and earlier years, but I think any of the WRs from 2012 would probably be an upgrade over this year's guys?
2 - Along the same lines...is your view that if SL were around in 2009, 10, and 11 when we had more talent...that this offense would have produced significantly more? I realize we still don't know much about SL but you know a lot more than I do so thought I'd ask.
3 - What do you think is in store for this offense next season? I believe the only guys we lose are Logan and Miller...but is that a good thing? Does it help us to have 9 starters coming back, or would we be better off with more of a fresh start on that side of the ball?
Call me out of the loop here, but why do we all thing Ford has the edge over a guy like Bucky Hodges in terms of either beating Leal for the starting job or being the primary backup? I'll admit I don't follow recruiting as closely as I should, but I seem to remember Hodges being a higher rated recruit and has also been around longer?
Actually, Alabama uses a zone blocking system similar to VT. They are not as "smash-mouth" as we like to think, especially this season.

it would be glorious.
