No worries just being a smart ass
Out of these two RB's that we have coming in next year, Reid and Williams, which one do you think could crack the rotation or even take over one of the 2 top spots?
Well, if we never do the all-orange thing again, at least some good may come out of the loss.
I am pretty old, age-wise, around here (almost on the wrong side of 40)
Those of us well over 50 feel like beating you with our cane for that comment.
We left 13 verifiable points on the field Saturday in the called back TD and two missed FGs. We likely could have had more points if we had not shot ourselves in the foot. We had the ball in Duke territory and turned it over on downs (I think I'm right, correct me if I'm not) twice. Saturday was one of those weird days where very little goes right. I would compare it to one of those baseball games where a not-so-good team beats the division leader by a score of 18-2...there are times when the ball doesn't bounce your way. Not to say there weren't things that we could have done to change that, but someone on here said that the game had a strange vibe to it, and I agree. Best thing to do is pick yourself up, dust yourself off, buckle your chin strap, and get ready for the next one.
If Thomas Edison was so smart, how come he's dead?
It is so wrong. That's actually what bothered me the most about the Nevin Shapiro case. The fact he paid for abortions for strippers that the players (maybe recruits?) knocked up. That is truly atrocious.
the rumor I've seen on various forums is that Gibson doesn't practice well and/or doesn't give acceptable effort in practice.
right, Lanier was a high school TE that became an someone effective OT for us at the college level. If he was "skinny" at 6'4" 230lb it means he had the frame to play OL. Duane Brown and Ed Wang were the same way.
You also have to remember that college/pro OL always carry extra weight that they wouldn't otherwise. The trick is carrying that weight and still being agile and quick. Guys like Willenbrock who aren't a 'skinny' 230lb can't get above 250-260 and maintain the mobility neccessary to play football. (or simply can't keep that weight on)
johnny on the ball!
And as a follow-up to the question about run blocking since Alabama, do you think that the element of the unknown played into the run success in that game?
What do you think Virginia Tech's biggest recruiting points are? Does Beamer being the active winningest football coach mean anything? Is there anything Virginia Tech could do better (legally) that would make them more of a target for high profile recruits?
Any idea what Gibson has done to end up on the poo-list with Grimes? I'm still stunned at the thought that we could block Alabama's line effectively but we haven't been able to really run since and I keep coming back to Gibson being out of the primary mix as a reason.
Interesting breakdown, but I think the numbers speak more to our scheduling rather than level of success. Playing in the ACC, how often do we face a ranked team? The fact that there are usually no more than 2-3 ranked teams in the ACC skews both winning and losing percentages. Being unranked does not mean a team isn't good, but that's a whole different debate.
The win % vs. top-10 opponents is pretty damning, though. I think VT is something like 1-26 against top-5 opponents. At least I witnessed the one win...
Bringing a meat into a dessert fight is just unfair
I always enjoy reading Andy's blogs, one thing he pointed out in the comments was our record the last 10 years and how strong it is. I went back and looked at the last 10 completed seasons, while it is an awesome 9.9 W to 3.5 L average, I wanted to somehow dissect it a little further, mainly because I was sitting in an airport bored. Here is what I found.
49% of our losses come from un-ranked teams over the last 10 years (I think this is where folks get cranky...)
23% of our losses come from teams ranked 11-26
29% of our losses come from teams ranked 1-10
on the winning side...
78% of our wins over the last 10 years come from un-ranked teams
17% of our wins come from teams ranked 11-25
5% of our wins come from teams ranked 1-10
Again, I am not directing this as a negative, nor positive to CFB, the teams he has coached, the teams prior to him or prior to the last 10 years, simply looking at the numbers in a different light.
Just been confirmed through email.
"Thanks for your correspondence. We are well aware of this young man and are actively recruiting him."
1:45-1:55 I agree! Love to see that

Hey now not ALL women love things pumpkin, including me. LOL
Todd Gurley* Not Trey.
Loeffler can't go out there and make the throws. We had guys open, there were holes for the RB. Small mistakes took away big plays and then we made big mistakes. Does Loeffler deserve some blame? I think so. We should have been pounding the ball down their throats all game but it seems he tried to get fancy some and it didn't work (because of awful throws). I expect a better year next year on offense and a really good 3rd year for him. His schemes work, our guys just aren't executing them.
Wow- pretty impressive. Wonder if we can also recruit the ref shown around the 2:20 mark. He looks like a beast...
his running (people over) reminds me of darren evans.
