Yea....let's go with that.
Wait a minute, anyone else notice that Gardner-Webb ranks #1 in holding GT to fewest yards. How did that happen?
Turkey leg for the edit to add Total D. To me, that's what matters most. That and scoring defense. It's great to be at the top of the others, but I prefer to see us giving up fewer yards total than anyone else. Shows for an overall balance on the defense.
Logan straight up owns GT.
Kyle leaping the line definitely should be in the BUZZCAP
Yes there are many things Sam Rogers "can't" do:
Sam Rogers can't stop instilling fear in opposing teams.
Sam Rogers can't drop a pass.
Sam Rogers can't be tackled by less than 3 opposing players and even then he just falls over for fear of hurting them.
Sam Rogers can't work less than anyone else in practice.
Sam Rogers can't be anything less than a Effing badass.
See loads of things...
He plays like he feels he needs to make contact with the receiver no matter what.
If he was playing the ball he would have had a pick in the endzone.
He was a solid playmaker last season- hopefully he will learn from this game.
GO HOKIES!
-- Last note on Thomas, but he's played well in Bobby Dodd Stadium in his career. He's 26-for-38 in two games here for 430 yards and four touchdowns. He's also run 34 times for 128 yards and three scores.

I could not love this team more right now.
Ky Fuller has joined the ranks of Tyrod and Bryan Randall for me.
My dad's side of the family has been Hokies for generations so I didn't have a choice. I have converted most of my mom's side into Hokies as well.
This. Or a pic to meme it.
Thanks vtmeg. I totally missed this as well.
I'll make mine quick. I was given a chance to attend school in VA by my grandparents who were diehard Virginians. They told me I could pick any school and they would help pay but it had to be in VA. So one summer I flew from the west coast back to visit them and the two major schools. They lived near Doucheville so the first place they took me to was LOLUVA. Even though I had always loved going to visit Monticello all the times I visited them growing up I immediately felt something just wasn't right in Hooville...
Next came VT. My grandfather graduated from Tech in 1939 with a Chemical Eng degree and as a member of the Old Guard. From the drive down to the tour, meeting the Arch professors and listening to my grandfather's stories I absolutely fell in love. That was the summer of 94. Before that I had never heard of VT nor knew what a Hokie was.
As a High School senior I applied to only one university and I got in. Had 4 magical years. Now Hokie for life.
Yep, they certainly DO NOT own the state of North Carolina; it's close, but Tech has the edge in NC. I just looked up each team's records against ACC North Carolina teams since 2004:
UNC: VT (7-2) GT (8-2)
NC State: VT (3-1) GT (3-2)
Duke: VT (9-0) GT (10-0)
Wake: VT (4-0) GT (3-1)
VT Record: 23-3 (88%)
GT Record: 24-5 (83%)
If you throw in ECU, App St, Elon and WCU:
VT Record: 30-4 (88%)
GT Record: 25-5 (83%)
Don't forget about Jonathan McLaughlin. That outstanding freshman shut down that most hated of GT lineman, Mr. Gesundheit. He was not much of a factor all night.
Thats really impressive... In Bud We Trust...

Bluefield?
Just compiled a spreadsheet using stats on the interwebs and I'll keep updating it as the weeks go by. We are currently:
-20th in nation in scoring defense - 15.8 points/game (bama game really hurt us here)
-6th in nation in passing defense - 138.2 yards/game
-23rd in nation in rushing defense - 103 yards/game
*Edit - 5th in nation in total defense - 241.2 yards/game
-1st in nation in sacks - 17 total, 3.4/game (tied with maryland)
-1st in nation in interceptions - 11 total, 2.2/game
Obviously, things will change after Saturday's games since we already played but either way it's looking good. As teams jump into their conference schedules and start playing more competitive games, the defenses in front of us will show their true colors and slip as we continue to get better. I love our defense so much.
try again
You were in OShag in 97? I was the HRA for OShag from 97/98 to 98/99. Hope you had a good time, but I will freely say that I ran a loose ship so you should have.
If I'm not mistaken, that board has been up for years(a little cloudy on how long, I'm usually three sheets to the wind by the time I walk into the track). And they have had a monster truck rally there since it has been up. I found a picture of the board coming down, not quite sure how to load pictures. Anyway, I think the major issue with having a game at the track is that the stands would be entirely too far away from the field.
The only takeaway from the game I didn't like was that on most of the 3rd and 6(and longer) there was no attempt to foil the pash rush with a screen/slant/RB draw. If you want to have Logan take less of a pounding and get the occasional first down on a long third down, I just don't see how you can't include some of these plays.
Other than that I can't really complain. Game was exciting and I was standing in my living room for about the final 5 or 6 minutes.
it was a twitter joke last night that as soon as they started talking about Whitfield and showed him on the sideline our offense sputtered and Logan had a bad series
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!
The best part about Kyle's play was the beginning when he was jumping the snaps. I'm a huge Steelers fan and all I could think of was Polamalu leaping over the line, Kyle wasn't quite on that level but he was damn close.

When you compile the stat for scoring defense, do you include scores only against the defense or do you include special teams and INT6?
Shouldn't that stat only be scores against the D?
Otherwise, it's name should be total scoring against team, not D.
