Perhaps it sucked because Evans was far and away the best rb on the roster at that point and he wasn't playing much?

Gotcha. Thanks for clearing that up for me.

I almost forgot about Jeff King. He was money inside the redzone. Hope we can find another TE like him soon.

The home game that year vs a ranked GT was up there for the most fun ive had at a VT football game. College gameday was there. We destroyed GT. I was a sophmore. Memories.

That game was also one of the best "Orange Effects" we pulled off. The whole crowd looked orange. I have a picture on my wall of it. Always brings a tear to my eye.

I cant even count the defensive touchdowns we had. Adibi had a pick 6. So did Ellis. And we had a blocked field goal for a TD. Pure craziness

our running game was awful in the first few games before evans was discovered that season....whether that was our O-line young receivers or what iunno but it was pretty bad before evans was plugged in

that was my brothers freshman year and the year i started paying attention to tech in general, it was AWESOME to watch, i believe that was the year they painted the T on the V at UVA right? best prank EVER

...as a statement of the overall assessments forthcoming.

"What have you been doing playing guard? You're a tackle now."

"You're solid at tackle, but you're the smartest guy we've got. You're the center now."

....or something along those lines. Nobody, and I mean nobody, can take anything for granted.

Don't have the same speed, size, and strength to match up or dominate against top teams. But that doens't mean VT can't win. With execellent execution and timing VT can win against bigger and faster players but it requires a lot of motivation, dedication, effort, practice, and high standards.

I think VT and the new staff try to do what Alabama does - - strong defense, run-first offense, simple play-action passing.

Granted, we don't have the same horses, but I do believe that our WRs are comparable and that Logan Thomas has a higher ceiling than AJ McCarron.

PASSING COMP ATT YDS TD
A. McCarron 211 314 2933 30

AJ obviously had a excellent year last year. He completed 67% of his passes for 30 TDs and almost 3,000 yards. The passing attack at Alabama is incredibly simple. AJ typically throws to wide open receivers in single coverage, and I rarely noticed him go through any sort of progression.

In my opinion, Logan and Loefller should be expected to achieve the same exact thing. The key for next years offense will be to develop a run game, and segue that into crisp, effective, play-action passinig. The 2013 Logan Thomas project will be dependant upon the offensive line / JC / Trey / Drew Harris (?) and their ability to keep safeties and LBs respecting the run game.

Our play action game was terrible last year. Some observations as to why:

1. We could not run between the tackles. Play action works best on quick-hitting, between the tackles, dive looks. Our play action was primarily out of zone read and stretch plays - - these slow developing plays gave opposing LBs and safeties too much time to diagnose and react. We could not run between the tackles because our RBs were not ideally equipped for that and our G-C-G combo could not make any room.

2. On several occasions throughout the season, Logan play-actioned to Manti Teo's girlfriend. On many more occasions, his ball fake was very lazy. One common thread among elite quarterbacks (Aaron Rodgers, Peyton, Flacco, etc) is that they strive to make play action look authentic. This NEEDS to improve next year, and I expect it to do so.

I would love to have the pic of him flipping the middle finger to the WVU crowd... as a Hokie from WV, that bitter rivalry is close to my heart - and those of us, including me who were at that game can attest to how terrible the fans were to our team and fans..

If anyone has it, i would really appreciate you posting it.

Also, when you get downstairs where the bathrooms are its a hall of doors, probably 10 or so that have lights outside the door. When the bathroom is used its red, available its green. So you walk down the hall and find a green door and you have a personal bathroom with tv's. Just a slight upgrade over Big Al's trough.

A run-first mentality doesn't mean you can't be efficient passing the ball. In fact, I'd say it sets you up to be even more efficient. I know we probably won't see a 5,000 yard passing season under Beamer, but that doesn't mean that play-action off a strong rushing attack with an accurate quarterback and solid receivers couldn't yield a high completion percentage.

Now, will we have that next year? Seems doubtful. But I also wasn't expecting 7-6 last year (and be honest, you probably weren't either). So who knows...

The serve you beer while waiting for the bathroom?!? That is the greatest bar business innovation I have ever heard!

so what's the tailgating situation like around the ga dome? we'd prefer to tailgate but if parking is extremely limited it may not be worth it for a parking pass.

if that's the case, then what's the bar situation like around the ga dome?
