I'm not saying that the hype doesn't help it, but there was a point before the hype where they were good on their own. Beyond that the biggest difference between the SEC and other conferences is that the top of the conference is deeper and stronger than others. The bottom of their conference isn't much better than any other conference. Miss St, Ole Miss, Vandy, Tenn, Auburn, Mizzou - none of those are scary teams.
We need to take every game seriously this year.
Pitt (Lost last four) They are an offensive Juggernaut one week and defensive the next (vs lolUVA).
Duke. Plays us hard every year. Don't forget they put up 55 on that Pitt team and only lost due to four turnovers.
BC. Plays hard every year, they only have two real weapons (RB and Amidon) but despite everybody knowing that they get big yards every game!
Miami. Who knows they might actually be "bak." But they have also played a lot of bad teams.
Maryland. By the time this game comes around, we will know if we actually have anything to fear.
UVA. Take this game seriously, this will be the Hoo's bowl game this year. (like it should be every year.)
David will be out against the bears Thursday night. Neck injuries are never good.

Un. Believable. I re-read that, hoping I could find some hint of sarcastica in there, but really dont think it's there. The post starts with "Fire Grimes". That's all you need to read to figure out whether there's going to be any usefull insights in there. The best is the part about "BTW, don't we at least have a big lineman or linebacker we can give the ball to...." That was generally the plan when I played football in the back yard at 6yrs old- give the ball to the biggest kid all the time- they wont be able to tackle him. Genius. Why dont they just try that???

Sigh. Some people just don't get it. Loeffler is an almost infinite improvement over O'Cainspring. I see improvements from both the line and the overall play almost every week. The running game isn't there yet, but the opposing DC's just seem to keep thinking that Logan passing game is a fluke and selling out to slow down or stop the run.
But how much of them having won 7 Champs in a row has to do with the fact that the SEC's on a goddamn pedestal? I mean, one year there was no choice other than having an SEC Champ! Ridiculous.
My worry is that Pitt will be able to set up some nasty screen's to defeat the blitz. But other than Boyd & Streeter do they actually have anybody that can catch the ball out of the backfield for a screen?

5-1 puts us potentially in the ACCCG, and with 10 wins. Nice season!
6-0 puts us squarely in the ACCCG, with a chance to play spoiler for either Clemson or F$U for their title run if they are undefeated, and in the top 10 WITH a loss to Bama. If Bama stays #1, we get a little more credit and a BCS game to send off the system.

yeah that's what we called it when I was playing hs ball in the early 80's! watched the pitt game vs loluva and savage looked good throwing. I agree w what is posted below that we should be able to get sacks especially if cancerville (I don't take that word lightly my sister died from the shit but playing off what eli Harold was quoted saying about his team which is funny and sad for them ) was able to get 7.
