Hokies up to 16th following weekend defeat of in-state rival UVA, who drops from 8th to 14th.
Gonzaga remains #1. Drake enters the top 25 for only the 3rd time in 50 years.
Lady Hokies take down the Tar Heels 73-69. Kitley had a huge game with 27 points and 8 rebounds. Starters accounted for 68 of 73, with Sheppard scoring 19 as the only other Hokie in double figures.
Ladies are now 9-7, but just 4-7 in ACC play. 9th place overall but should be favored in most of their remaining games.
The Lady Hokies play UNC today at 4PM in Cassell. The game is on the ACCN. UNC is 8-6, 3-6 in the ACC. Their ACC wins are at home against Syracuse, WF and Notre Dame. They have lost on the road to WF, Miami, Syracuse and Louisville; and at home to Miami and VT.
Eight different players have started a game this year. Only four players do not have a start.

CMYBall is making a habit out of this COVID knocks one game off out of your 4 and your replacement is an upset win. First Villanova, then Duke, now LOLUVA have been . The Hokies made it through this tough portion of their schedule going 3 and 1 against Wake, BC, Syracuse, Notre Dame, and UVA. I had predicted going 3-1, with the loss to Syracuse, but while my eyewear is orange and maroon, I didn't expect to take UVA out behind the woodshed. Without further ado: Data

Ladies came up one basket short twice against #2 teams this season. Today they flipped the script. After near heartbreak at the end of regulation where NC State hit a miracle 3 at the buzzer to tie. Have to love the coach getting a Tech late in overtime. Four free throws and the ball.
The Lady Hokies left no doubt in overtime to beat the Wolfpack 81-71
Big game from Baines and a huge second half and overtime from Sheppard. She didn't score in the first half but put up 28 points.
First Hokies win against a Top 4 AP team ever after 44 losses.
Big win inside.
Double doubles all around

I personally thought they would fall farther than this after the loss to Syracuse. Hopefully they can overcome Notre Dame and not slip into last year's trend. Let's leave 2020 behind.
Virginia Tech announced Tyrece Radford was suspended.

I'm just going to keep this thread alive for the next game, since nothing much changes. I'll try to figure out if Cunane is going to play in Blacksburg.
The Lady Hokies play NC State today at 4PM. This is an ACC Network game. NC State is #2 in the country, 10-0 overall and 5-0 in the ACC with wins at BC and GA Tech and at home against BC, WF and Miami. The Hokies are going the wrong way and NC State is very good. Our Hoops Wiz said in another thread that this game may be over by half time; and he is probably right. Our only hope to stay close is if Sheppard and Amoore can find their game. Kitley is going to have her hands full with Cunane.

As par for the course with some transfers/decommits, Bamilsilie took out all Virginia Tech references from his Twitter and pinned a cryptic tweet:

Feels like he's a great upside player who's struggling with a steep learning curve. Hopefully, this isn't an indication of more roster attrition.
Postponed due to positive tests and contact tracing within BC's program. VT's next scheduled game is Saturday at Syracuse.
