WBB hosts Duke Feb 15 at 8PM

The Ladies host the Blue Devils Feb 15 at 8 PM. The game is on the ACC Network. I am on my annual golf trip to Orlando. Playing 27 or 36 holes for the next 5 days weather permitting. The weather will not permit on Sat and Sun; but we will give it our best shot.

I don't know that I need to say a whole lot about this game. The ladies got handled by Duke at Duke on Jan 18 46-63. We were still tying to get it together as a team then. I think we have our shit together now.

Hokie Hoops Statistical Notes: Volume 7

The Men's Team

I don't really know how to begin. The team just isn't winning games. The most painful part is that in the last 6 ACC losses, the margins of defeat were 3, 4, 8, 10, 8, 8. These were not blowouts. Yet the W/L record doesn't lie.

Scoring

Only two Hokies, SG Hunter Cattoor and PG Sean Pedulla, averaged in double figures (17.3 and 15.3, respectively). Mylyjael Poteat was the #3 scorer at 8.7 ppg, followed closely by Robbie Beran's 8.3. Behind them Lynn Kidd was 5th, with 6.7. Rounding out the scorers were Collins and Nickel with 6.3, apiece. Neither Jaydon Young nor Brandon Rechsteiner hit on any of their shots over this window.

WBB hosts BC Feb 11 at 1PM on ACCNx

The #16 Hokies (19-4, 10-2) host Boston College (11-14, 3-9) Sunday at 1PM. The game is an ACC Network extra game. This should be the last easier game until we end the season with LOLUVA. After this game, we host Duke, visit Louisville, host UNC, visit Notre Dame before finishing at LOLUVA. There is no excuse to lose this game unless we fail to take BC seriously. Coach Brooks has been good at keeping the team focused on one game at a time.

The Hokies should have a height advantage in this game, especially when Strack and Kitley are on the floor together. Their tallest player #16 Krasovec only plays about 10 min/game. Everyone else who plays regularly is 6'1 or less.

WBB at NC State Feb 8 at 8 PM

The Ladies travel to NC State tonight for a rematch of the game played in Blacksburg on Jan 7. We won that one on a last second shot by Liz Kitley. River Baldwin did not play in that game. The game will be on the ACC Network at 8PM. I'm not sure what to say about this one; so I just going to put up the usual data and let more qualified people talk about the game in the comments. I will say that NC State is a much better team when River Baldwin plays. This is going to be a great game.

WBB at North Carlina Feb 4 Noon

The #17 Ladies travel to Chapel Hill to play the #24 Tar Heels Sunday at noon on ESPN2. I don't know how the time gets away from me on these things. It's 9PM Saturday and the Hokies play at noon tomorrow and I have not started the game thread. These Thursday to Sunday turnarounds are tough for me. They must be a real challenge for the Ladies. But they are younger than I am.

UNC is 15-7, 7-3 and tied for fourth in the ACC; the Hokies are 17-4, 8-2 and second in the ACC. If the Hokies win they stay in second; lose and they drop to a tie for fourth with UNC, at least until Monday when 7-2 NC State plays 8-1 Louisville.
