The #9 Ladies play Kansas in the Cayman Islands Classic today at 5 PM. I can't find where it will be televised; Hokie Sports says Virginia Tech Sports Network, whatever that means. Win or lose, they play Tulane tomorrow at 11 AM.

So I am going to be back in VA for Christmas and have been thinking about taking my daughter to a womens bball game. It looks like the Pitt game on dec 31 will fit nicely. When I am looking at tickets on hokiesports it says all tickets are general admission but then when I look at the seat map I see section numbers and nothing shpwing where general admission tickets are.
Does anyone know how general admission works?

The Men's Team
Virginia Tech began their 2023-24 campaign with wins over Coppin State, Campbell, and Wofford and a close loss to South Carolina. We've seen freshmen come in and be productive and a mixed bag of production from our transfers.
Scoring
The Ladies play UNC Greensboro at 6 PM today. This is a ACCNx game. And this should be another game that Coach Brooks can use to evaluate how the players are meshing as a team. The Spartans are 3-1 with wins over South Carolina State, Pfeiffer at home and Radford at Radford and a loss to App State at App State. They are an experienced team starting 3 Jrs, a Sr and a grad student. They do have one player at 6'3, who starts and plays about 22 min per game in Khalis Cain. The rest of the starters are under 6 foot.

The Ladies play the Houston Christian Huskies tonight at 6 PM. The game is on ACCNx. These early games are supposed to be almost scrimmages against lower rated teams. That looks like the case tonight.
Houston Christian does have some taller players in Matadi and Butler; but they have not played much in the first two games. Mataldi is playing less than 10 mpg; Butler 6. And they have not contributed much. The Huskies are an international team with 2 girls from Northern Ireland, 2 from Sweden, 1 from Luxembourg, and 2 from Australia.
The group that plays the most minutes is not tall with three players at 5'10 or less and 2 six footers.
Don't see another thread for this and the game starts in 20 minutes. ACCNx only. Should be a chance for CMY to work on his groupings with the new players.

The Ladies are the host team tonight in the Ally Tipoff at Charlotte Coliseum at 8 PM. The game will be televised on ESPN2. The #8 Hokies play the #3 Iowa Hawkeyes led by Caitlin Clark. The Hawkeyes lost the championship game to LSU last year 102-85 after the Hokies lost to LSU in the semifinal 79-72. We lost by 7; they lost by 17. By the infallible transitive property of basketball scoring, we would have beaten them by 10 last year.
The Ladies have a warm-up game today vs High Point in Cassell. at 5 PM. The game is on the ACC network. I'll start by stealing from 07Hokie's Statistical Notes:

The Men's Team
Year 5 of CMYBall begins at 8pm tonight. Following last year's 19-15 (8-12) campaign, Mike Young sits 9th among all VT Men's Basketball coaches in wins (73), with Red Laird (77) and Don DeVoe (88) in reasonable striking distance. Should he pass DeVoe, Young would have had the 3rd best 5 year start at Virginia Tech, behind only Buzz Williams (100) and Charlie Moir (96).
Mike Young announced Rodney Rice is leaving Virginia Tech:
Rodney Rice recently shared with me his desire to step away from our program. While his departure is unfortunate, we wish Rodney and his family all the best in the future.

This trio last season were all starters and both coming from the Big Ten were All Big Ten selected.
For a seven year investigation, where the FBI found their assistant coaches gave bribes and paid players. This was announced yesterday- Self - no punishment of course- no show cause, etc. And the program gets 3 years probation. Oklahoma State, many others got much stiffer penalties for less. Found this news that came out on 10/11/23 very interesting.
