Shelton has been covering the Hokies for The Key Play since November of 2021. He graduated from Virginia Tech in 2021 with a degree in Sports Media and Analytics, under the tutelage of the one and only Bill Roth. He writes about Hokie sports mostly from an analytical perspective, but occasionally pens an in-depth feature on various topics pertaining to Virginia Tech athletics.

He's currently the Associate Director of Media Relations at William & Mary.
