I feel ya. It was fun being the big man on my middle school team, had to learn a whole different skill set for JV
Shit, I stopped growing in 8th grade, at 6'1''. Went from being the tallest motherfucker in my grade to average height, lol
My first sentence was intentionally absurd and I assumed it needed no s/ because kids transferring out doesn't definitively indicate anything about the locker room
No way, shear numbers indicate a total loss of the locker room. It's like fucking Lord of the Flies over there, only possible explanation for that many kids in the portal.
So, your official stance is that at VT, because our record is not as good as Oklahoma, it is inconceivable for players to get passed on the depth chart, and instead of wanting to spend their time on the bench, they venture to other schools to try to showcase their talents in order to achieve something they have been striving their entire lives for?
By that metric, once you establish yourself as a starter, you are a starter until you graduate, because, since we're not a playoff team, it is impossible for someone to come in and take your spot.
In reality, what you described for Oklahoma is likely true, the part you are missing is that our top talent is no where near the level of their top talent. Our top talent is much more in line with the talent level of the young guys coming in, thus they get challenged for playing time/touches.
So it looks like we've got 11 in the portal, and gained 2 guys...by some accounts here, it sounds like Fuente has lost the locker room, we're in a downward spiral the likes of which we'll never return.
It must be total chaos at Oklahoma, they've got 12 in the portal so far, total pandemonium, they'll be lucky to ever win another game with that kind of lack of leadership.
So many times it seemed like we'd pull within 1 or tie, and just could not take the lead.
Gladly take the lucky win tonight.
Imagine if Blackshear had stayed.
PJ Horne, player of the game
What a twist!
I'm more partial to the battle vision sunglasses, personally
"Landers is a pro. At the rate he's going, he won't be back next year," Nolley's father said.
I have some serious questions about who is feeding that info

This is terrible
Got a bad feeling that tonight is the night UNC turns their season around
Would love to be wrong

Interesting fun fact, since the Beamer to UNC part is brought up...the deal that Weaver and Steger came up with to get Beamer and the assistants (all of whom were reportedly going to follow him to Chapel Hill), made VT coaching staff the 3rd highest paid staff in all of college football. His salary bumped from $750k to $1.25M
The key to retaining Beamer appears to have been the university's willingness to sweeten the deals of his nine assistant coaches, all of whom reportedly were ready to follow Beamer to Chapel Hill. A source close to Beamer said he seriously considered North Carolina's offer in the wake of Virginia Tech's refusal to add $100,000 to the base package for his assistant coaches. Initially, university officials offered to allot $50,000 more for the assistants.
Must be a culture issue
Sounds like my wife, lol, I'll have to start watching this one
With HH, QP and BB in the QB room, were we interested in him?
After further review, we good.
I dunno, I don't think Hooker, Turner, King, among others, suck
Elite running backs should go pro ASAP, get paid, and retire ASAP, not stay in college another year. Every carry of the ball takes its toll. A friend once said to me, "It's like being in a car accident every time you carry it."Agree or disagree? https://t.co/oSek5lFLyc— Will Stewart (@WillStewartTSL) January 17, 2020
Gotta agree here
2021 is just commits to date.
I didn't say we've significantly out recruited them, just that overall we've out recruited them
Wasn't trying to argue DC's point, just putting some stats to go along with the claim
Lotta season left to play
I'm not saying he didn't have some big moments, but if he wasn't there, someone else just as easily could have too.
I'm just saying he doesn't make or break the season

No, at 6'1" in 8th grade, I was the big man.... but then at 6'1'' in 12th grade, i was pretty average height
