The Big Ten is expected to announce today that it will go with a conference-only football schedule for this fall, a person with direct knowledge situation tells @TheAthleticCFB.β Nicole Auerbach π· (@NicoleAuerbach) July 9, 2020
This could be the first major domino. Although I don't see the rational. Rutgers to Lincoln is father than Ohio U to Columbus for example or State College to Blacksburg. Unless it's to ensure conference standards for testing etc are met.
Ivy League cancels all of fall sports. It could determine at later date whether football will be played in spring or not until fall 2021. 1st reported by @JonRothstein. I've been seeing these ads on FB recently for coasters showing 4 greatest sports plays for certain teams, so I decided to look at what they have for Tech football. This is what they're offering:

Sounds like Dave Doeren has hired McNeill into an advisory role similar to Kill's role with VT. Seems like a good fit for both McNeill and NCSU.

ICE has stated that if classes are online only this fall, foreign students cannot be issues their student visas. This could affect all foreign student athletes. Specifically in football, our beloved Oscar Bradburn.
Foreign students attending U.S. colleges that will operate entirely online this fall semester cannot remain in the country to do so, according to new regulations released Monday by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Just viewed the article and highlights of Dalton Keene.....when does football start? Are there any brick walls to run through?
Also includes highlight from Roadhouse.....one of my fav guy flicks. If I'm channel surfing and I come across this movie, I have to stop and watch.
Go Hokies!

UNC will have Sam Howell, who may turn out to be the best QB in school history, for 2 more years. That is what we in the sports world like to call a "championship window". I know what you're saying to yourself. "Man, UNC isn't gonna win any championship. No way can the beat Clemson and they certainly can't make it through a college football playoff !" I agree with you, but that doesn't make either of us right. If a top 5 QB in the nation, a Hall of Fame coach, and a team full of blue chips can't take down Clemson, then what can?
Virginia Tech
Coach: Justin Fuente (33-20, fifth year)
2019: 8-5 (5-3 in ACC), 38th in SP+
2020 projection: 8-4 (5-3), 31st
Five best returning players: LB Rayshard Ashby, NB Chamarri Conner, LT Christian Darrisaw, QB Hendon Hooker, CB Caleb FarleyWas your quarterback good? Y/N
Was your quarterback healthy? Y/N
It's too simplistic to boil a coach's entire tenure down to those two questions, but damned if it doesn't tell a lot of the story sometimes.

I'm curious as to what everyone's thougths are on Fuente. Right now, I'm 50/50 on him. When the Baylor job came up a while ago, I was torn as to whether I wanted to see him stay or leave. I'll explain a few of my thoughts, and start with the minuses.

As an aside, hope he's able to get inducted this year! Man those are some good players that are on the list with him.
I haven't seen an announcement from Spalding himself, but SI and 247 are saying that he is transferring to VT. Out of Lorton, his 247 composite rating was .8681. He committed to WVU over VT and a few other power 5 schools. Injuries have derailed his career, and he's hoping he can get it back on track at VT. It's always nice to get a VA kid in Blacksburg!
Fantastic pod from Dan and Ty. This is a must listen for anyone who is wondering what 'resources' refers to when talking about recruiting.
NOTE - The first third of the podcast is recapping the BLM movement through college football. If you want to skip that, you can jump to 18:10.
Anyways, they interview Michigan State's Creative Director, and then Hayes Fawcett, a guy who does graphic design work for recruits (He does the top 5/6/7/8/etc for all the top recruits), and just recently accepted an offer to attend LSU and be on their graphic design team.
Some tidbits:
Update for 2020 from Bud Elliott: Link
For those unaware, Bluechip ratio is the percentage of 4-5 stars players on a team. No team has won a natty in the 'modern' era of CFB (since the inception of the BCS) without a 50% bluechip ratio.
James, from Raleigh, North Carolina, caught 40 passes for 401 yards in 2014, his final season with the Demon Deacons. One of James' teammates at Wake, former quarterback Tyler Cameron, was the runner-up on "The Bachelorette" last year.

Based on some earlier conversation throughout a few threads, over the last couple days I have gone into 247 and pulled data to break down our average Recruit Rating according to the 247 composite for the first 5 years of the Fuente era as well as the last 5 years of the Beamer era, to total the past decade of recruiting.
All of this is out of the 64 teams that made up the Power 5 at the time
